To start off 2019, you may have noticed that Xero has delivered a little New Year trap.
If you’re invoicing through Xero, then we want you to know about this important update.
You will have noticed that they’ve recently changed their invoicing screens, from this:
Overall, it’s a good change. We like what they’ve done. However, there is a ‘but’… keep reading to find out more.
The trap: watch out for GST
In the “Classic” or old invoicing screen, you could default your invoices to be GST exclusive or GST inclusive. This was great because you didn’t need to think about GST when you issued an invoice.
In the “New” invoicing screen, your selection from the Classic screen isn’t remembered — it defaults to inclusive.
Once you’ve issued one invoice from the New screen it will remember your selection. The trap is to make the selection the first time when you’re using the New invoicing screen.
We’ve messaged Xero and asked them to update their system, but in the meantime if you’re using the New invoicing screen, please be careful.
